Jocelle’s Graduation

Finally, my girl had her graduation concert today..

She was dressed in a Korean hanbok for her performance but went to the stage in her graduation 🎓 gown first.. we were seated by the aisle so it was easy for us to take photos of her as she walked past..

She started with a song for the teachers. Then we waited for her performance which was the last one before the finale.. according to her, their performance was placed at the last cos it was the best.. haha..

Before her performance, she had a short emcee stint but the file is too big to be uploaded here..

The item we had been waiting for finally arrived! I didn’t take video of the first part as it was the boys’ part.. we paid for the DVD so we could see the entire performance but I just wanted to focus on her…

I had to agree that their item was the best! She danced so gracefully and confidently and I’m so proud of her!

After the finale, we took many photos of her with her friends and her teachers, it’s like she had just graduated from U… 😅

It’s nice that the graduands were each given a graduation bear!

P1 Orientation

This time round, the p1 registration was rather stress-free since my girl could register via Phase 1..

Before we knew it, it was P1 orientation.. Jocelle is rather adaptable so she was able to handle the situation rather independently.. she was to sit with her future classmates while the parents had to sit on chairs placed some distance behind the P1-to-be kids..

We tasked Jovan to take photos of his sister..

As you can see, she’s not worried at all.. after the principal addressed the kids and the parents, the PD head briefed the audience about some school rules and some performances, the kids proceeded to the ISH for a workout session.. I went up to wait for her while hubby went to the classroom to do the paperwork..

She was able to follow the instructions rather well and she seemed to be enjoying herself…

The man bought her uniform while I sent my boy for his enrichment.. Then, I let her try it in my staffroom when I got back…

Sigh.. They definitely looked oversized.. 😑

I’ll probably need to get someone to alter the skirt… 😅

I hope she’ll have fun in school next year and give me less headache than her brother did for the past two years…. 😅

Pearly whites

Princess’ adult tooth couldn’t wait to emerge.. she had been talking about her classmates with shaky teeth and even about her teeth being shaky when we couldn’t find any..

Hubby discovered the new tooth on Saturday and was very concerned..

Coincidentally, I’ve made an appointment to see the dentist today.. According to the dentist, it’s quite common for kids at this age with adult teeth emerging and we should not worry too much.. I asked about whether her new tooth would be crooked and the dentist said as new teeth emerge, they will shift so we couldn’t be sure.. hopefully she won’t have to put braces in future…

We’re praying hard that all will be well.. Fortunately, the dentist said her teeth are fine and she seemed to be brushing them well.. keep it up the good job, girl!

Jocelle is 6!!

My princess is 6 today! I made arrangements at work so I could have the afternoon free..

Left school almost immediately after the bell has gone. We stopped by NTUC to get some disposable plates and cutlery.. Hubby was home when we reached home.. We rushed to collect the cake after Jovan had a few mouthfuls of curry rice that he had packed from school..

I was shocked that the ice cream cake I collected was not printed with the Sofia the 1st designed that I had chosen.. I was very upset and worried that my girl will be upset as we brought her the Sofia dress that she had requested.

[backstory] I’ve placed my order for a Sofia cake after taking some time to choose the design for the cake. While the staff was keying in my order, I changed my mind and told them I wanted design 2211.. The staff happily said they could change for me. After I paid and collected my receipt, I didn’t double check.. 😓 I didn’t realize that the design number was keyed in as 2111 instead of 2211!! Luckily 2111 is Stunning Princesses design which had 6 Disney princesses and not a Transformers or Spider-Man design!!

I was super upset and worried and the moment I saw my girl, I explained to her that I’ve ordered the wrong cake for her.. She didn’t show any signs of disappointment at all! Phew! What a relief! After that, we started getting ready for her celebration…

After the celebration, we left Jocelle for her swimming lesson and brought Elyssa home with us.. She looked at us longingly and seemed to be expecting us to bring her home.. Haha.. We had to grant her the wish, right?

We rested for a while before meeting up with my siblings for dinner at Swenson’s again!  We ordered another cake for her and this design is the one I initially wanted!!

We had an overdose of ice cream today! Couldn’t finish it so we packed the remaining cake home.. When I got home, I realized that I actually could have gotten the cakes at a 20% discount cos my two kids are both the Kids Club members! What a waste!! 🙄

1st Ballet Performance!

We just received 2 notifications from Jocelle’s ballet school today.. The first is to inform us that she will be promoted to Grade 1 in Term 2

The second one is to inform us that the school will be having their Annual Dance Performance in September.

For the past 2 years, Jocelle was always not keen to take part and we did not push her to take part as they were all scheduled during the September school holidays when we would usually be away on a short trip..

This year, the notification seems to be given much earlier and since the performance is based on my darling’s favourite Princess – Sleeping Beauty, we didn’t even have to try to convince her! She just informed us that she’s going to participate in the performance!! I can’t wait to see her performance!! 😊

Jocelle’s CNY Performance

My darling girl expected me to watch her performance at her ccc for the CNY celebrations..

Since I took leave to watch my son perform last year, I applied for childcare leave to support my dear girl on 17 Feb..

She was confident and remembered all the steps.. I’m proud to say that she didn’t show any signs of stage fright (she didn’t literally perform on a stage) in front of all the parents and her peers..

After watching the performances of the other children, there were family and child games.. Emily, who was with me, asked me to play the games with Jocelle but we were both not keen.. Guess we were a little shy.. Hee..

In between the games, I took some photos of Jocelle with her best friend in the ccc..

Jocelle and Zining

They had a finale where all the children gathered together to sing some CNY songs..

After which, it was Lo Hei time! I’m surprised that both Jocelle and Zining enjoyed the lettuce a lot! They were piling the vege on their plates while stuffing some into their mouths! Haha..

getting ready to lo hei

stuffing the lettuce into their mouths!

yummy vege!

Elly joins in!

After the Lo Hei, the kids got ready to exchange mandarin oranges with their friends..

Then they queued up to receive a red packet from their teachers..

I got my red packet!

Shortly after, we left as Elly was not very willing to stay any longer and since I’ve taken leave, we brought Jocelle back too..

I wanna go already!

The 4 of us then went to Vivo for lunch before we head home.. We were already in holiday mood! 😁

Jocelle’s Show and Tell

We got the notice quite early but forgot all about it… I only remembered about the Show and Tell that Jocelle had to prepare for the day before the deadline!

We played cheat a little and brought her to Cold Storage to pose for some pictures after dinner at West Coast Plaza..

I printed the photos and briefed her on what she was doing.. Basically, she went shopping with us to prepare for CNY.. We just hoped that she would be able to ‘smoke’ through the presentation.. 😁

The next day, she told me she didn’t get to present.. Hmm.. So more time for us to prepare… We bought some more decorations and I got her to pose for more photos..

I even taught her how to make fish using red packets.. Took some photos of her making the fish although I did most of the folding and cutting.. Haha..

After she had finished hanging all the decorations, she wanted to put up one more wall decoration so I obliged and took one more photo!

Printed out the photos and got her ready for her Show and Tell, if she still had to present..

Ps: she didn’t manage to present in the end..

Kumon progress

Jocelle seems to be progressing quite well in her mathematics although I had to use the cane many times to get her to do her work. I know it’s not the best way to motivate her but it’s the most effective way to get her to complete her work when I’m tired or when we are in a rush..

She’d do one question and then count the number of pages left in the worksheet.. It’s really frustrating to make her do her work. There was once when I even had to kiss her after she had completed each page before she would carry on!

Anyway, she still seems to be coping well.. And she’s progressing so well that she’s almost catching up with her brother who’s learning how to add 2 to numbers up to 32..

She just did a test and she actually did very well!

I’m very proud of her but I still hope she’ll be more motivated to do her work so I don’t have to resort to caning her.. But I guess all kids suffer from a mild form of masochism as they would only do what you tell them after you scold or cane them.. Sigh..

At last! Diaperless days have arrived!

Yes! Barely a week after princess turned 4, she decided that she could control her bladder at night and told us she didn’t need to wear her diapers at night!

We still put on for her for 2 nights and when her diapers were dry after those 2 nights, we decided that she’s really ready!!

Yippee!! Now we can save more $$ and I’m one step closer to my condo dream!! *wink*
