Bandung Nov 2014 Part 3

We had many activities planned for today and our first stop was to a hot spring..

According to the itinerary, we could choose to swim in the hot spring or just dip our feet into the hot spring so most of us expected a pool of water where we could just dip our feet into.. We didn’t bring our swimwear, thinking that it would be difficult to change if we were to swim..

But alas, when we reached the Sari Ater Hot Spring, we realised it’s actually a resort where we could try a whole range of activities! We could actually spend an entire day here!

We first dipped our feet into some hot pools..

Some of us also tried the fish spa..

image

As we’ve tried fish spa before, we decided to try out their archery..

image

The photos of the men were taken by me while the one of me was taken by my dear husband.. You can tell who’s a better photographer ya? Sigh..

After that, we walked around and stopped for some snacks..

image

The food there was really cheap and nice!

Next on, we went to try their ATV ride.. I expected more to want to try but it ended up with only the 4 of us trying!

image

It was fun!

It started to drizzle when we decided to move on to our next destination, which was the Floating Market but we stopped by a coffee place for a break..

image

As we were about to leave the place, it started drizzling again so we decided to skip the Floating Market and move on to De’Ranch at Lembang..

We had a welcome drink that was included in the entrance fee..

image

Then it started to drizzle again.. Sigh.. We bought some snacks while waiting for the weather to turn better..

image

Their tauhu snacks were really good! Jocelle asked for cotton candy too..

Again, we took some photos while waiting..

image

There’s simply too much to do, don’t you think?

Finally, we decided to just let the kids go ahead with the horse rides when the rain was less heavy..

image

image

The rest took a horse carriage ride too!

image

image

Actually, I kind of pity the horses pulling the carriages in the rain although they were wearing ‘raincoats’..

Anyway, after we’ve had our fun, we decided to skip Dusun Bambu, an eco park where we were supposed to have lunch as the rain was getting rather heavy..

We went for dinner at another local restaurant before we went for our massage..

The food was not as good as the previous one we had and Elyssa broke a cup during dinner.. Nic was upset when he was asked to pay for the broken cup..

After dinner, we proceeded to Ola Family Spa where we all had either foot or body massage.. I shared a room with Jocelle while Shum shared one with Jovan..

The kids enjoyed the massage so much that both fell asleep and didn’t want to wake up!

image

It’s a place I would recommend all to go since it’s family-friendly and cheap!

Next, we asked the replacement driver to bring us shopping but he brought us to a batik shop.. We shopped a while before we proceeded to another factory outlet which was a disappointment. That was when I WhatsApped Kosim to ask him if there was a better shopping area.. He communicated with the replacement driver who then drove us to another shopping centre which was way better..

Of course, we had to snack.. Hee..

image

After some shopping, we again stopped by a minimart to get some food.. We bought cheap Magnum and martabak for supper too… Hee..

image

Time to call it a day! But not before the kids talked about their experience earlier..

image

Haha.. Like real only!

Bandung Nov 2014 Part 2

We woke up early today despite going to bed close to 2am last night.

We had some bread or cup noodles that we bought at the minimart last night.. Then we started our journey to Kawah Putih, a white volcanic crater lake that had been dormant since 1600..

Traffic was heavy and it was a long way so we were glad to stop for a break at a minimart..

image

Most of us took a nap in the van to catch up on our lost sleep the previous night.. Think the entire journey took about 3 hours!

When we finally reached the place, we prepared ourselves with mask to block off some of the sulphur smell..

image

It’s cool up here so we were glad to be prepared with cardigans and jackets… It’s not something we can see at home so it’s good to be there although it would have been better if we were to visit on a weekday when traffic would be less heavy.. The long journey would be unbearable for some.. We took some photos before we headed back to the ticket point for some refreshments..

It started to drizzle when we started to move off to our next destination, Situ Patenggang, a freshwater lake so we were glad to have booked a van..

image

Before we boarded the boat, we bought some fried tauhu and fried bananas that cost about 10¢ each! They were cheap and delicious, especially the tauhu!

The lake was not very spectacular and we went there based on the driver’s itinerary.. There was a famous Lover’s Stone but we were not really interested in it.. Hee..

image

After the long boat ride, we made our way to a local restaurant for our lunch and we reached there after 3pm! It started to rain again while we waited for our lunch..

The food was good!

After lunch, it was pouring as we made our way to Rumah Mode, a famous shopping area.. It was a long journey due to the heavy traffic so again, it would have been better if we were to come on a weekday.. We shopped till close to 10pm and even had dinner at a cafe there as it was rather late and we didn’t want to travel again to the restaurant recommended by the driver.. Think our bums couldn’t take anymore long rides to anywhere!

We called it a day after dinner and went back to the villa after a short stopover at a minimart.. It was indeed a very long day..

Bandung Nov 2014 Part 1

This trip materialised cos we couldn’t book the Bintan villa.. everything was decided very close to the date and the villa was booked just about 5 days before the trip.. and we confirmed the driver about 3 days before the trip!

We took a late flight cos some of us could not take leave.. we reached Bandung at about midnight and the driver was waiting for us with 2 mpv on standby.. His name is Kosim and his contact number is +62 813-2290-9345 if you are interested.. he’s a nice guy who even bought a local sim card for me at 50.000IDR.. however, he was only able to pick and send us to and fro the airport.. Guess he was overbooked but he also mentioned that his son was unwell and had to go for an operation.. My bro and sis thought it was just an excuse but I chose to give him the benefit of doubt..

Anyway, we reached our villa at about 1am.. It was huge with 5 bedrooms.. Just right for us since my bro always preferred to sleep in the living room with the company of the TV through the night.. Hee..

Here are some photos of the villa…

Kids getting comfy

As it was rather late, we decided to let the kids sleep right after we changed them into their pyjamas..

We took the biggest bedroom which had a sofa bed in addition to a king size bed..

All ready to sleep

That’s all for today.. Will update more about day two soon…
