Disney on Ice

Answered a survey online in a bid to win tickets to Disney On Ice next year and at the end of the survey, there was a question about whether I’m interested to send my kids for a casting.. didn’t know what it was but I clicked ‘yes’.

Then 2 weeks ago, I received an email to request for photos or videos of my kids if I want them to be considered for the casting. I sent a few photos of my kids and a video of my girl..

She sang the song she was preparing for her graduation concert..

The next day, I got a call to inform me that the kids have been shortlisted for the casting and we arranged to bring the kids to go for a preliminary filming session..

The kids were very comfortable with the camera and were giggling most of the time although they didn’t use grammatical structures most of the time.. I took a video but it’s too long to be shared here..

The following day, I got an email to confirm that both had been selected for the filming.

I couldn’t make it for the actually filming so I asked hubby to bring the kids there.. on the way there, his car broke down so he had to take a cab there.. 😓

According to him, he couldn’t take any photos or videos as he had to wait outside the studio..

After the filming, the kids got a big goody bag each and hubby was told that they would email me regarding the Cat 1 tickets for the Disney on Ice shows next March! Woohoo! I can’t wait to see the video on social media!

Update: here’s the link to the short promo clip..

Tracking my son

I was very upset with my son one day as he didn’t stay at the agreed meeting point after school and I had to search high and low for him for 20min.

Decided to get him this GPS enabled phone watch from Lazada at about S$27..

We got an M card and tried to set up the watch but the manual was incomprehensible.. The man almost wanted to give up and I was preparing to return the watch when he found this blog that helped him a lot and we finally got the watch to work..

It’s not a fantastic watch but I like that it doesn’t look like a phone.. We can set the phone book such that he can only call specific numbers set by us and we can set SOS numbers that he can call without alerting anyone.. we can send text and voice messages other than calling him.. We can also locate him although it’s not very accurate but at least we can roughly know the area he is in.. we can also monitor him without him knowing.. We can also silence the phone during school hours so he won’t be distracted during lessons.. Since he can’t play games on it, it’s purely a tool for us to contact him..

The best thing about this watch is that it’s a good motivation tool for him! I told him he wouldn’t be able to wear the watch if I hear complaints from any of his teachers and he told me he would look at the watch to remind himself to talk less in class and to behave.. he would also ask me if he could wear the watch every day and I would let him wear it only if he behaved.. Recently, his HCL teacher also told me he is more well-behaved in class.. I hope this incentive will work for a long long time!

For now, it’s a good gadget for me to contact him and it’s definitely value for money!

I love my son!

Yes, I love my dear son and he sure knows it! This is what my colleague sent to me today.. Haha..

Nope, I don’t tie my hair like that.. Haha..

Pokemon Go Go Go

I’ve read about the game and heard rumours that the game would be banned in Singapore but I didn’t think too much about it until I saw a friend posting a photo on FB on 6 Aug showing the first Pokemon he caught..

Out of curiosity, I searched for the game on App Store and downloaded it.. Then I realized that the game was launched on that day..

I didn’t really know how to play the game so I just tried to catch the Pokemon that appeared along the way while hubby was driving.. Before I knew it, I’ve used up all my pokeballs! I didn’t know what to do next until my friend shared that I could get more pokeballs by visiting Pokestops.. Ok, so I found a Pokestop, which was the giant snowman at Vivo.. Ok, I didn’t really read what the Professor told me to do so I simply stood beside the snowman like an idiot wondering why nothing happened.. 😁

After I explored the app and found the ‘?’, I realized that I have to spin the picture to get pokeballs, I went back to the Pokestop to get some pokeballs.. Haha.. Now, I know I have to visit as many pokestops as possible to collect as many pokeballs as possible cos I usually wasted several pokeballs before I could catch the Pokemons.. And to add to that, some Pokemons could actually break free from the pokeballs!

Yesterday, my sister actually gave my boy a tip that if you switch the AR off, it’ll be easier to catch the Pokemons as they would stay still for you to aim the pokeballs at them.. I guess she wanted to save her pokeballs as my boy who was helping to catch Pokemons on her phone had been wasting loads of her pokeballs due to this poor marksmanship.. Haha..

The AR is fun though cos I could take photos of my kids with the Pokemons.. The first one I took was at the swimming pool where I was relaxing by the pool while my kids played..

Then I decided to take more photos of them with the Pokemons for fun..

Ok.. I’ve used one incense at my own home which is a dry area, hoping to attract some Pokemons but was told that I had to walk around in order to find Pokemons.. That’s one incense wasted since I caught nothing in that half an hour as I was sitting at the dining table the whole time.. Hmm..

Noticed that I have 2 different user names? Hee.. I decided to sign in with a different gmail account as I found out that I could catch Pikachu if I ignored the first few Pokemons I encountered.. It was a waste as I was at level 9 already but I soon realized I should be able to level up quite fast so I might as well do it now or later.. And there! I found an XL Pikachu!

I learnt quite a bit from my sis too as she crazier about catching Pokemons than me.. Haha.. I could transfer the extra Pidgeys, Zubats and Psyducks for candies to evolve my Pokemons to earn more XPs.. And I could discard potions to have more room in my back for pokeballs..

I also allowed my kids to play the game when it’s safe.. I guess the reports about people getting into accidents because of the game caused many people to hate the game.. But honestly speaking, as one who has tried playing the game, I don’t think it’s as dangerous as some people think it is. We just have to be responsible while playing the game and play the game with care..

It’s unthinkable how one can fall into the waters or stop in the middle of the road while playing the game as I didn’t have to do that.. I could still catch the Pokemons while the car was moving so even if you find a Pokemon in front of you, you can still keep walking as the Pokemon will still be in front of you as you walk.. Of course we should be mindful of our surroundings while playing as 2 adults stopped cycling suddenly when they spotted a Pokemon and almost caused us to crash into them when we were at East Coast Park last Sunday.
So, be responsible and conscious of your surroundings and you should be able to enjoy the game! Another benefit of this game is that it’s getting people to exercise outdoors! So haters, get outdoors and try out the game before you make any judgement..

Birthday Weekend 2016

This year, my birthday falls on a Saturday.. But since the kids got an invite from Becky for a sleepover at Festive Hotel on 27 May, hubby planned something on Friday night..

He had actually made a reservation for dinner at Loving Hut at Joo Chiat but since the kids had piano till 5.45pm and we had to drop the kids off at Festive Hotel, we decided to shift the dinner to Sat.. So we ended up having dinner with Denise, Wendy and her hubby, as well as the kids at the Korean Food Street at RWS.. A wise decision since we didn’t have to rush and there was a good variety of food which were yummy!

These were some photos Denise took.. The kids were definitely well entertained! After we sent Denise and the kids back to their room, we went on an atas movie date on Friday night.. Hee.. We went to Vivo Gold Class to watch X-Men: Apocalypse..

Hee..As I had MTP on Friday, I dozed off at one point during the show.. Hee.. But fortunately I didn’t miss much.. I find the show better than Civil War and of course much better than Batman Vs Superman.. The storyline was much better and it was action-packed! The show ended after midnight and when we reached our car park, hubby handed me my birthday present.. I kinda guessed what it was but the box was heavy and big so I was not very sure until I unwrapped the box.. It was another Apple toy to add to my collection! Hee..

Cool, right? Hee.. I couldn’t wait to explore its functions but I was too tired after a long day so I just charged it for a while..

Of course I had to wear it the next day when I met up with Denise, Wendy and the kids the following day at USS! The kids were well-fed before we met up with them..

We had a long and tiring but fun day at USS and decided to upgrade to season pass!

The kids wanted to swim with Becky and her classmate at pool at Festive Hotel but we didn’t have much time as the upgrading to our season passes took a while.. In the end, we let them take a dip in the pool for about 15min before we made our way home to shower..

We then made our way to Joo Chiat and along the way, all of us dozed off except the driver.. Hee.. I think he was trying to keep himself awake too.. Poor man!

There was quite a variety of food and we over ordered again.. 😁

The kids had kids’ meal vege penne which they both loved and a clear garden soup which we found quite bland.. The kids’ meal came with an apple juice too..

We ordered their Royal Satay ($12.90) to share.. It was good and very filling!I ordered Tomyum soup ($12.90) which was yummy!! It came with a bowl of rice which I couldn’t finish.Hubby’s Penang laksa was rather disappointing though.. Hubby also ordered a coconut drink to cool him down..I was stuffed but the kids insisted that there must be a cake on my birthday so we ordered a slice of chocolate cheese pie.. They even asked for a candle! Hee..

Had a good time this birthday weekend and I’m counting my blessings every day to have these lovely people in my life! Happy birthday to me!! 😉

Mother’s Day Breakfast

Got an invitation from the girl’s ccc to attend a Mother’s Day breakfast on 6 May.. Event was from 8-9am and it’s only open to K2 mummies..

I decided to try to apply for time off since it’s an exam day and there would be no teaching and I would probably be involved in invigilation duties only.. Girl was enthusiastic about this and since this is the last year for me to take part in the event, I decided to try my luck.. And I successfully applied for time off! I didn’t want to take the whole day off since I had to stay for common marking in the afternoon.. Just had to be back by 9.30am..

Girl was very excited.. Kept telling me she wished every day was Mother’s Day! She told me we would be making sandwiches together but I didn’t have to lift a finger as Teacher Lorraine was the one who prepared the sandwich..

I was given a crown which was colored and cut by Jocelle.. Then I was served a cup of milo.. Glad to see Zining’s mum as we could chat.. Haha.. We took some photos before we had our sandwich..

Then I got a card from my dear daughter..

I guess she’s one fortunate girl who has been to many countries at a young age.. So much more fortunate than me! I’m glad she’s appreciative!

She was very happy and was busy taking videos and even selfies while I chatted with ZN’s mum..

We then took a group photos before I left for work..

It’s a simple affair but I’m glad I could make it and make my girl happy!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mummies out there!

Appreciation

Son passed this to me today..
Just a simple note but it’s so heartwarming.. He decorated the note with some drawings.. Try to spot these items: mandarin oranges, a red packet, a baby cot with ‘him’ on it and a mini bowl of porridge..

Haha.. Have I been under feeding him?? 😝

V Day 2016

Didn’t expect much today as the man is not one who’s romantic..

But he surprised me when I came out of my shower with this..
We then went for at late lunch at a vegetarian restaurant, Herbivore, at Fortune Centre..

After lunch, we went to Sentosa to fly… Hee..

Son and I had great fun while the man and daughter watched on.. I actually gave the man an iFly treat on his birthday last year.. Hee.. We will probably try again when Jocelle turns 7, which is the minimum age for the experience..

After that, we went to my mum’s place to have another Lohei as it’s the 7th day of the lunar new year, which is 人日, a day Chinese consider to be everyone’s birthday.. My bro and youngest sis didn’t join us as they had their own programmes..

That’s an eventful day..

ps: I did get the man a set of wallet and key pouch some time ago so I told hubby that’s considered his V Day gift! 😝

CNY 2016 – Day 6

Went back to my mum’s place on Sat as my 3rd aunt and her family was there.. They didn’t go on the 1st day as they went to a chalet at D’Kranji resort..

We had lots to eat.. I collected the DIY popiah and kueh pie ti sets at SmithStreet before making my way there..

We let the kids gamble a little.. Haha.. For the fun of it.. And cos it’s CNY.. Hee..

 Then we celebrated Nigel’s birthday..

We then had our first Lohei!

This is the first day of the CNY this year that I felt festive.. Haha..
