Pearly Whites?

Brought Jocelle to the dentist today.. think we’re about 4 months overdue..

Found 3 teeth with signs of decay.. we could choose to get them filled or just brush more diligently amd monitor. I chose to get them filled so they could last longer.. each filling is $35…

image

Sigh.. must force her to brush more regularly and cut down on sweets although we really don’t indulge them.. maybe their doting Aunt Emily needs to be reminded.. hee..

Bali Oct 2014 Day 3

We planned for a relaxing morning by the pool today. The kids played by the pool while some of the adults enjoyed a massage..

image

image

The massage started about 8 plus and lasted about 90min.. it was difficult for us to sleep with all the noise the kids were making but it was still very relaxing.. a good treat for ourselves after working hard for months..

Then, we heard some commotion.. Apparently, dear Elyssa moved her bowels and some of her output spilt out of her swimming diaper! Shum had to scoop out the poop while shouting for my kids to get out of the pool! Haha.. What a memorable incident! Fortunately, Zin, Emily’s helper and my mum helped to shower and clean Elyssa up.. Shum took the credit for clearing the poop.. haha..

We had breakfast after our massage and took a shower before we set off to Ubud where Ibu Oka was located.. it’s well known for it’s suckling pig and Felix wanted to try it..

image

I could smell the pork the moment I stepped into the place.. they have mainly pork dishes and only 1 type of vegetable dish which wasn’t very appetizing..

image

After lunch, as we were all in the van, about to set off, the driver couldn’t start the van..

We decided to take shelter inside an airconditioned shop..

image

Em bought some ice cream and just as we were about to sit down to enjoy the ice cream, we were told that the van could move! We quickly set off to our next destination for tea as Emily didn’t enjoy her lunch…

We went to a cafe by some rice tea fields to chill…

After a rest, we decided to go somewhere to shop as our dinner reservation at Breeze was at 8pm..

Again, the van couldn’t start! This time, we had the men to help.. haha..

image

image

Finally, after pushing the van for quite a distance, it started moving.. good job, guys! Hee..

We went to Seminyak Square to shop after this..

image

It was relatively quiet actually and many makeshift stalls were closed shortly after we reached..

We didn’t buy much actually and soon it was time for dinner, which was about a 5-10 min drive away..

This was highly recommended by my colleague and I was hoping it would be good as there’s a minimum spending of 500k rupiah per adult, which is about SGD$50+..

The location was great! It was by the sea and we could hear the waves..

image

The service was great too and the food was awesome!

image

image

All of us enjoyed the food so it was actually value for money! The kids enjoyed their own pasta too!

After a filling dinner, we went back to our villa.. I actually wanted to swim as I’ve not made use of the pool at all.. but I couldn’t find company.. they were either too full, too tired or too worried about the morning incident although the housekeepers said they would clean up the pool… hmm.. too bad then.. I went to bed after midnight as I didn’t want to sleep with a full stomach.. our vacation is coming to an end too soon!

Bali Oct 2014 Day 2

Today, we woke up early as we planned to go to the Bali Safari and Marine Park..

The kids managed to have some fun in the pool shortly after they work up before they had breakfast..
image
We ordered tropical breakfast today..
image
We set off around 9.30am for the Safari.. The journey took more than an hour and it was so warm that we were all perspiring.. They were quite strict about food and drinks as there was a bag check before we entered the park.. Some bottles were removed from the visitors’ bags actually..
image
It’s quite an expensive place to go as the Jungle Hopper cost USD$49 for adults and USD$39 for children below 3.. We didn’t choose the package with the elephant ride as it’s USD$69 for adults. This is so much more expensive than the Singapore Zoo!

Anyway, since we were here, we might as well make the best of the trip.. We watched an elephant show and took a Safari Journey bus ride that was similar to the one in Korea’s Everland… The kids enjoyed themselves getting close up views of the animals…
image
We also went to the Petting Zoo where we touched an iguana and Jovan fed some goats.. Jocelle was too afraid to feed the goats…
image
We had lunch at one of the restaurants inside but food was affordable…
image
image

image
It was a hot day so we gave the kids a treat..
image
image
With a selfie stick, we could take many wefies but most of the time, the kids were not very cooperative.. Haha..
image
I was the only one brave enough to take a photo carrying a musang binturong! Hee.. It’s free, ok? So why not? Hee..

After lunch, we took the Safari Journey ride before we went to the Splash park which was similar to POLW in Sentosa.. The kids had a great time there!
image
We also went to the Fun Zone which had only 4 rides and the only ride they took was this…
image

We left the park around 5pm and made our way to Jimbaran Bay, hoping to catch the sunset during our dinner.. It was a long ride that was made worse with traffic jams along the way.. By the way we reached the Ganesha Cafe which the driver drove us to, we could see the sun setting very fast.. It disappeared even before we got to our table.. At least we caught a glimpse of the sun setting.. Hee..
image
We settled down and Nic bought some BBQ corn from one of the makeshift stalls..
image
The cobs of corn were good time and tummy fillers.. We were so glad to munch on them while waiting for our food which arrived more than an hour later..

We also allowed the kids to play with the sand while waiting..
image
image
When the food finally came, we finished them quickly as all were famished except for me.. I had an entire cob of corn myself and finished off Jocelle’s cos she didn’t finish hers. I also had a big and filling coconut so although they served two miserable plates of vegetables, I had difficulty finishing them..

image

The men ordered three different types of fish other than prawns, squids and oysters but the fishes were all cooked in the same way and not as requested.. Not everyone was happy with the meal which cost about 1.8 million rupiah..

We then set off to Hard Rock Cafe as Felix wanted to get some souvenirs for himself… While waiting, we posed for photos.. Hee..
image
We stopped by Starbucks, McDonald’s as well as a minimart to buy some coffee, desserts and snacks before we went back to our villa..

We had a long and fruitful day but the pace was leisurely so it was really relaxing.. We’re all enjoying ourselves so far and I guess we were all feeling that this trip would be too short for us.. Hee..

Bali Oct 2014 Day 1

Woohoo! Finally, we’re leaving for our second trip to Bali! We made use of the long weekend for a short getaway.. too bad, bro can’t join us..

We flew budget on Air Asia this time since it’s a short flight.. not too bad although Jocelle was expecting food to be served.. we didn’t order any food as we filled up earlier while waiting to board the plane.. seems like we would always have to rush to board the plane no matter how early we reach the airport.. haha.. guess we have to give more time allowance when there are kids around..

It was a 2.5h flight but there was a very slight delay.. The airport seems different from the one we went too last year in June. It seems bigger and newer. The customs clearance was fast but we waited quite a while for our luggage.. We had arranged for airport transfer and were warmly welcomed by the drivers.. They sent 2 drivers as there were 8 adults, 2 kids and 2 infants..

image

We took a wefie at the airport carpark after they put frangipani garlands around our necks..

It took about an hour for us to reach the villa and there was only one narrow road that led to our villa…

image

Hats off to the skilful drivers who could manoeuvre their way on the narrow roads and heavy traffic..

We planned to go out for dinner after we unpacked and relax a little.. But the kids couldn’t wait…

image

They had to go into the inviting pool!

After they had their fun, we made our way to Ku De Ta for our dinner.. But the sun was setting fast..

image

There were lots of Caucasians, maybe about 90% of them.. We didn’t make any reservations so we decided to go somewhere else for dinner.. But not before we took some photos.. Hee..

image

image

The driver drove us to Breeze which was highly recommended by my colleague but it was fully booked so we had to find another alternative.. The driver then drove us to an Indonesian restaurant where we had some cheap local fare..

image

1 million rupiah for dinner for us.. That’s about S$100.. Think it’s quite reasonable.. After dinner, we stopped by a minimart before we called it a day..
