Hong Kong Nov 2013 Day 4

4 Nov 2013

It’s our final day here.. Wanted to try the Tim Ho Wan today but the Mongkok branch has closed and it would be too inconvenient for us to go to the branch at Hong Kong island as we would have to lug our luggages, the kids and the stroller up and down some stairs to get there.. no choice, we had to abort the plan..

We woke up quite late today actually.. haha.. we were tired and we didn’t plan to go anywhere far after we aborted Plan A.. We decided to settle for Macanese fare today…

Hong Kong Nov 2013 Day 3 Part 2

3 Nov 2013

The cable car ride to The Summit was fairly long.. definitely much longer than the ride from Mt Faber to Sentosa.. The rides at The Summit were not really suitable for the kids so we went to the South Pole Encounter.. We were just in time to watch the feeding of the walrus and northern sea lions..

Image

Playful sea lions…

Walrus feeding..

We spent quite a while inside as it was rather cool and they kids were quite fascinated with the animals..

When we finally walked out of the area, it was already close to 3pm so we decided it was time for lunch.. We wanted to have a simple lunch but chanced upon the Tuxedo Restaurant that was just beside the North Pole Encounter, near the South Pole Spectacular.. We were told that we need a minimum spending of HKD300 in order to dine there.. That’s about S$50..  They serve pasta which the kids love so we decided to go in.. We were pleasantly surprised that we were placed at a table near the penguin enclosure! We were practically dining with penguins! Mummy was more excited than the kids, I think.. hee.. We settled down and placed our order while the kids observed the penguins..

After lunch.. we saw a seemingly exciting ride – The Flash! I took the ride alone despite my boy’s objections.. haha.. my man was too scared full to try… hee..

Image

Not as scary as it seems…

It was not that scary as it was rather slow.. quite an experience actually.. hee.. We decided to move to the Whiskers Harbour so the kids can try rides that are more suitable for them…

We left the park close to 7pm and contacted my sisters who had tea at Tim Ho Wan earlier.. We arranged to meet at the Peak Tram Station at about 7.30pm..

The packed some dim sum from Tim Ho Wan for us so we ate and rested for a while before we proceeded up The Peak via the tram… Emily, Nic, Jovan and myself actually went to Madame Tussauds at the Peak while the rest found a place to rest their tired feet..

Image

It started raining when we just reached the Observatory Deck so we were told to go back later.. We had some snacks and went back to the Observatory Deck after the rain stopped and took some photos after we enjoyed the night view..

It’s been a long day.. but we all had fun!

Indulgence @ Gold Class

Went for our 1st GV Gold Class experience today after pampering ourselves at Haach..

We rushed to Vivo after our massage and facial.. just in time to catch Hunger Games: Catching Fire..

We quickly bought 2 tix at $26 each with my POSB credit card and went into the cinema..
image

We located our seats quickly only to find a lady at our seat.. we asked her if she was on the wrong seat but she was holding a ticket that says the correct seat number.. she called for a staff to clarify and after some verification, the manager changed her seat..

We were then able to take our seats while the manager changed a blanket for us..

The seat was comfortable and I made myself at home by reclining the seat to an almost flat position. It was really a position that I can sleep in.. hee..

Hubby ordered some food while I concentrated on the show.. Jennifer Lawrence was really good! I got emotional at several scenes because of her great acting..

The food was a distraction as I had to shift myself to eat.. hee.. but it would be a waste not to order any food since we were already here.. hee.. Don’t think we’ll frequent Gold Class all the time.. It’s really more of an indulgence for us.. a rare treat.. hee..
image

Anyway, I enjoyed the show as well as the food and I really can’t wait for the 3rd and 4th Hunger Games!

Hong Kong Nov 2013 Day 3 Part 1

This is really an outdated post as I had been too busy the past few weeks.. I actually went on an immersion trip to Taiwan from 7-13 Nov..

3 Nov 2013

We woke up early on day three to meet up with the rest for breakfast.. Audry and Felix had their breakfast at YMCA where breakfast was inclusive but they met up with us nonetheless..

We went to another cha chan teng as Emily and Nic were not too impressed with 翠華餐廳 (Tsui Wah Restaurant).. Didn’t take note of the name of this restaurant though.. hee..

Image

Cutie Tong Tong with daddy…

We ordered quite a bit as this placed seemed to offer a greater variety of food.. Used my new toy to take photos of the food we ordered using the background defocus function.. Here are the photos..

The happy boy all charged up to play!

After a satisfying breakfast, we decided to make our way to Ocean Park while the rest continued shopping.. I reckoned that we should let the kids have some fun since we spent the second day shopping..

We wanted to take a bus from Star Ferry but we went to the pier at Tsim Sha Tsui instead of the one at Central.. Sigh.. my bad.. I misread the directions.. I had wanted to let the kids try taking a ride on the ferry but due to time constraints, we decided to take the train to Admiralty to take a bus to Ocean Park.. But since we were here, we might as well take some photos at the pier.. hee.. hee..

Image

Me and my darling.. (mei mei was sleeping)

Image

My 2 dearest men.. Look at how well my son could pose..

The bus fare and tickets for the theme park for the whole family was HKD1013.. That’s less than SG$200! It is so much cheaper than Disneyland! Jocelle didn’t have to pay for the bus trip as she was  under 4 years old..

Happy kids taking the bus to Ocean Park!

I think the last time I went to the theme park was in 1998.. That’s 15 years ago! The entrance of park has changed a lot.. Think they are in the midst of constructing a MTR station there to make it more accessible..

Image

Future MTR station under construction…

It’s a bright and sunny day!

Image

Don’t we look cool?

Here we go! I didn’t remember that the park was so huge! The moment we went inside, we heard an announcement saying that due to an impending typhoon, the cable car would not be in operation.. I was rather disappointed that the kids would miss out the experience although they have taken cable cars before..
ImageNonetheless, we explored The Waterfront area…
Image
We then ventured into Old Hong Kong Street.. I love the nostalgic feel there..

RSS Endurance

Brenda told me abt the RSS Endurance docking at Vivocity Promenade. We brought the kids there after their enrichment classes.. we were given tickets to visit the helicopter deck so we went up to take a look..

Didn’t manage to sneak into the tanker as we didn’t know how to.. we were also rather tired after the 30min wait to go up the helicopter.. think it’s called Puma or something..

Taiwan Immersion Trip

Went for a Taiwan immersion trip from 7-13 Nov with some P5 pupils.. this trip took place just a few days after my HK trip.. hubby was not to happy but understandingly agreed to let me go even though he knew he would have a hard time minding the kids on his own
..

The itinerary was very packed so even though we had planned to Skype, we only managed to do so twice as the kids were usually asleep when I was ready to Skype…

Anyway, we did manage to Skype twice…
image
Hee.. the kids behaved very well while I was away, probably cos Emily promised them toys if they woke up without whining.. maybe they would be happier when I was not around since they got so much more! Haha..

Hubby brought them to Emily’s place for dinner most of the time so they were constantly reminded to behave..

20131201-225017.jpg

20131201-225034.jpg
Emily even helped to send them to Berries on that Saturday morning as hubby was involved in the P1 orientation in school..

The kids were pampered with Mac breakfast and toys too! Who would miss mummy with all these distractions?? I’m not complaining though..

20131201-225048.jpg
Really appreciate all the help from everyone.. Many of my friends even offered to help mind the kids while I was away! Thanks Brenda and Abbie! Hee.. Glad Shum could handle without troubling you ladies! 🙂

Anyway, the guilty mummy bought some toys and treats for the kids although it was really difficult to shop with some pupils in tow.. hee..

Kudos to hubby for handling them so well.. guess I should go for more trips on my own ya? *wink*

Hong Kong Nov 2013 Day 2

2 Nov 2013

We woke up fresh and got ready quickly to go out for breakfast.. I went to get myself a prepaid SIM card from the 7-11..

Image

At HKD88..

Image

I subscribed to the 7 day package which is fairly cheap..

Audry was on the way from Shenzhen to meet us so we strolled around to look for a place to have breakfast..

Image

Pretty Elyssa snug in the baby carrier…

We were quite early and most of the shops were not open yet so we took our time.. We finally went to one 翠華餐廳 or Tsui Wah Restaurant for breakfast.. The rest didn’t have good comments about the food but I found it ok.. I’m not really picky about food.. hee..

Image

After breakfast, we made our way to YMCA to meet up with Audry and Felix.. We shopped around for quite a bit for baby strollers.. Emily bought one eventually while hubby decided to buy a Buggy board which he had set his eyes on some time ago..

Image

New buggy board

The kids were excited about the new toy and fought to stand on it.. sigh.. as usual..

We realized that it was close to 3 pm and we had not taken our lunch.. We searched for the nearest place to have dim sum at 點一龍 Dim Sum Bar..

Image

Happy girl!

Piping hot dim sum!

We then continued shopping at Harbour City…

After we went back to our rooms to offload our purchases, we took a train to Mongkok to continue shopping! But before that, we stopped over at the Xu Liu Shan 許留山 for desserts.. hee..

The mangoes were really sweet!

Image

Nice!

After the desserts break, we carried on shopping.. hee.. There was a slight drizzle but the weather was not as cool as we had expected.. It was even warm in the afternoon..

We had to stop when Emily saw a shop selling curry fishballs.. I, instead, was attracted by the smell of the fermented beancurd.. hee..

Image

Smelly fermented beancurd! Yummy! Not as smelly as the ones I had before though..

Image

The men enjoying the street food..

We continued walking and shopping for a while before we saw another shop selling curry fishballs.. Emily wanted to try some from this stall too! Hee.. We decided to pose for a photo.. hee.. These fishballs are spicier and better according to them.. “Shiok” is the word!

Image

The 3 of us!

We decided to go to Langham Place in search for a washroom.. That was when we decided to take another pitstop.. Think we’re really getting old.. hee.. or it could be because we had 3 kids in tow.. We had some drinks and cakes at Pacific Coffee.. yes.. more eating.. hee..

My dear boy had been in dreamland for the past 3 hours!

Since it’s still Deepavali and I would not be around on our anniversary, we took a photo to celebrate our 9th ‘anniversary’. Hee…

Image

Happy anniversary!

We went to the market place to shop for some food for Jovan.. Felix bought some wine so we could continue eating and drinking in our room.. haha..

Image

While the adults ate and drink, the kids had fun in the bath tub! Look how happy they were!

Image

Supper time!

Image
The kids sure had a great sleep after the wine tasting! Hee.. I took a good warm bath before I went to bed too.. =)

Hong Kong Nov 2013 Day 1

1 Nov 2013

Audry and Felix planned to go to HK for their babymoon some time ago.. They made their bookings quite early and managed to get cheap flights and accommodation.. Emily wanted to bring Elyssa and asked me to go along.. Took me a while to convince hubby as we just made a trip there in March.. I thought it would be fun to travel with my sisters and my idea was to bring the kids to Ocean Park. Think the first time I went there was in 1998? That’s 15 years ago!

Our flight was at 1825 but hubby could only leave his work place at 1530.. I left school on the dot at 1330, took a cab to the kiddos’ ccc to pick them up before we went home to get ready. The taxi driver was surprised to see me pick the two kids from the ccc and actually commented that I looked too young to be a mother of 2! He even said that I looked 25 and asked how I managed to ‘lock’ my age at 25! Super happy lor! *beams*

Anyway, told the uncle to keep the change and quickly got back home to shower the kids and do some final check on the luggage.. Waited till about 1600 before hubby reached home.. He showered and we left home at about 1640.. tried calling a cab but to no avail.. It was drizzling and it was around the time for the taxi drivers to change shift.. bad timing… should have booked a cab earlier but didn’t know what time hubby would be ready.. Bro panicked and called when he found out that we were still waiting for our cab.. after about 20min of anxiety, we finally flagged down a cab.. Told the taxi driver that we had a plane to catch but he reminded us that safety comes first.. very true.. tried to stay calm despite the jam at Keppel..

The kids talked non-stop on the taxi.. they were very excited! We finally reached the airport at about 1740 and checked in our luggage quickly.. luckily there was still a queue at our gate! Phew…

There was a change in aircraft so our previous seat arrangement was changed. Emily had to sit alone with Elyssa, Jocelle and I were seated behind her while the boys were assigned seats 5 rows behind us..

Image

Pretty Elyssa taking her 1st flight!

Jocelle was chatty throughout the flight, asking lots of questions. The headset was a little too big for her so she kept asking me to adjust for her. Nonetheless, she enjoyed herself watching Turbo and listening to music.. she couldn’t sit through the show though, maybe cos of the headset..

Image

#headsettoobig

She kept asking about her food but she didn’t eat much when her food arrived..

Image

Happy with her straw!

I could understand why..

Image

The burger didn’t look appetizing…

Image

The ice cream, Kit Kat and fruits looked more appetizing..

Jocelle didn’t touch the burger patty at all.. really…

When we were about to land, I noticed my girl looking intensely at one photo in a magazine..

Image

Studying the photo seriously…

She studied the photo for quite some time so I took a closer look at it…

Image

Difficult pose, right?

Then, my princess turned to me and said, “Mummy, next time can I do this with Gor Gor?”

Haha.. I was rather amused by her.. Guess she really likes to dance..

While we took a sky train to the arrival hall and the kids were told to pose while I tried out my new toy!

Image

Don’t know why my boy likes to salute…

We took cabs to the hotel as it was about 2330 when we collected our luggage.. We had to take too cabs as the 3 kiddos are equivalent to 2 adults.. We were exhausted.. Quickly showered and called it a day..we needed the rest to get ready for the next day! =)
