Went to help out Soot Mei who’s conducting Christmas cupcake making workshops today.. There were 8 children, including Jovan, who participated in the morning workshop.. The kids worked in pairs to measure out the ingredients, mixed up the ingredients using an electric whisk before transferring the cake mixture into aluminium cups.. Then the cupcakes were ready to be sent to the oven!
This workshop is unique in the sense that the kids worked on their own without much help from their parents as parents were not allowed to stay and help.. Some of the kids actually cracked the first egg in their lives in this workshop!
While the cupcakes were baking, Soot Mei went on to the language part of the workshop.. She guided the children to write a letter to Santa to request for a gift and to give a reason for their request.. The kids then wrote their own letter individually and were free to decorate their letters to Santa while Soot Mei checked if the cupcakes were ready..
Once the cupcakes had cooled down and the kids had completed their language activity task, they were guided on the various ways to decorate their cupcakes..
After that, they were given free rein to decorate their own cupcakes.. Each baked 4 cupcakes so they could unleash their creativity with the variety of toppings provided.. Soot Mei really invested a lot of time and money to provide the variety of frostings and toppings for the cupcakes!
And since parents were not allowed to help, the kids were really proud of the cupcakes that they decorated on their own! The kids were very creative too and I could tell that they really enjoyed themselves as all of them were asking Soot Mei when she would conduct the next workshop!
Jovan decorated 2 of his cupcakes with blue frosting and said one was for him and the other was for daddy.. The green one was for me and the pink one was for Mei Mei.. So sweet of him!
The following pictures also showed how much Jovan enjoyed the workshop!
